I enjoy making straight forward portraits in available light, the whole creation process feels more relaxed and natural to me with this method. Lately light as been on the dark side of great and its forced me to delve into wider openings and slower speeds than what I usually prefer. The first portrait in the diptych is the result from one of those darker days, I like the whole blurriness of the image (probably hard to see at this size).

This post will be multilingual … mostly because I feel like it.

Lackluster week
I didn’t post a shot last week and it wasn’t for lack of shooting, I spent a great deal of time outside in the hellish cold but inspiration never really showed up. It happens. So to sum up last week I have this shot … its lackluster, dirty, ugly, cold and green … kind of like last week.

Last week (I don’t quite remember where), I read a caption for a picture that stated that a region was hit with 5cm of snow and temperatures of 0 degrees Celsius. I’m guessing the photographer lives in warm climates.
These two pictures are from this past Sunday. Montreal received around 10 centimeters of snow and it was a balmy -10 degrees Celcius. Normal weather for bike rides, jogging with the dog or a peaceful demonstration downtown.
