Recede …
You were retreating; we took comfort in that, the populace rejoiced. I should of known a part of you would stay behind to ambush us again.

I have only one friend who likes baseball and he’s always busy, and five months out of the year you can’t play baseball in Montreal, and the city lost it’s team eight years ago … I miss baseball.
Up way too early for a Saturday with very little to do … went for a quick walk in the fresh snow, I wanted to find a sidewalk that no one had walked on yet this morning.
A couple of shots from a day trip to nowhere in mid-december, right before leaving for the relative warmth of Spain.
I took those two particular shots earlier in the day, it was bitter cold, wind was whipping snow across the road and across my face, regardless, I thought it was beautiful.
I can’t get over how beautiful the light (and colour) is at this time of year … here, in Spain, everywhere, even when it’s overcast. I don’t know if it’s just me, I don’t know why I hadn’t noticed before, but there it is, I prefer my work in colour these days …
A friend told me bikes are a recurring theme in my street photography. I hadn’t really noticed before but she seems to be right. Along with a few other things, I guess I associate Montrealers with bikes. Perhaps even more in December when, despite cold weather and snow, people just keep on biking.
Two that I captured over the last few weeks, on some of the coldest days of the approaching winter …
Another of my favs is this one I captured last year. As I look at these three images, I also realize they were all taken on a Sunday … I guess I like cold Sunday walks as well.
Last week (I don’t quite remember where), I read a caption for a picture that stated that a region was hit with 5cm of snow and temperatures of 0 degrees Celsius. I’m guessing the photographer lives in warm climates.
These two pictures are from this past Sunday. Montreal received around 10 centimeters of snow and it was a balmy -10 degrees Celcius. Normal weather for bike rides, jogging with the dog or a peaceful demonstration downtown.
